Part 1 lays our foundation for a lifestyle of healing + wholeness
Here are four core concepts you'll learn in this 12-part course.
First, love is the beginning-- and the end.
The God-kind of love is very different than the world's love.
One of our biggest problems comes when we think that God responds to us-- and "favors" us-- in the same way people in the world do. That is, we wrongly believe we relate to God based on our performance.
- When He blesses us, we presume its because we've done a "good job" and we're so "bless-able."
- When we face trials, we often assume we've done something wrong.
When we step off this cycle and realize that God is always good and that He is always for us, we open our hearts to navigating the joys and pains of life alike with a new perspective.
(See Lessons 1, 2, 6, & 8)
Second, forgiveness is one of the keys to experience the flow of the Holy Spirit in your life.
Not only must we receive forgiveness (as we acknowledge God's love for us), but we must also be willing to give it. Continually. Even when it's hard.
Forgiveness is an act of obedience. It is not a feeling... it is a choice. And, it doesn't depend on fairness. In fact, the very need for forgiveness acknowledges someone did something that wasn't right.
We want to live in such a way that we remove any boulders from block the flow of the river, thereby allowing God to do a work to us as well as though us.
(See Lessons 3 & 4)
Third, almost every failure in life can be traced soon or later to breaking of this one word: Honor.
In fact, most issues find their root in one of the Ten Commandments: "Honor your father and mother..."
God gave this commandment to Moses, and it is repeated throughout the New Testament.
A heart-position of honor sets the tone for all relationships, and it sets up the sacred space where we can receive from others and they can receive from us.
Many struggles we face find their nexus here. As such, many breakthroughs begin here!
(See Lessons 5, 7, 12)
Fourth, you're unique but your story isn't.
Yes, you're a one-of-a-kind miracle from God, a gift to this world.
But your story is that unique. We like to think our stories are-- but many people deal with the same struggles you've experienced.
Even though the details are different, we're all in this together.
That's good news!
In the same way others found their way forward, so can you!
